Chapter Eleven
On Wednesday night, Mo invites herself to my dorm to go over her progress on the website, though Iâm pretty sure thatâs partly a front. Sure enough, she shows me a few updated pages and asks me some general questions before she shifts to the real reason for her visit.
âSoooooo, your brother and Darryn arenât here now,â she says, lifting her eyebrows at me. âAre you ready to tell me about this date you had Friday night?â
I manage not to blush this time. Go me.
âNo big deal,â I say. âShe was showing me how to swing a bat. Basic softball stuff. And then we kissed.â
âMmm-hmm.â Mo rests her elbow on the desk and her chin in her hand. âThat is not what made you blush like that at lunch the other day.â
Shit. Even if I make something up, she knows me too well. To be honest, I do want to get her input, itâs just awkward to say the things that we did out loud. I swallow my embarrassment. âWellâ¦we were kissing, but it started storming,â I tell her. âSo Eve dragged me into the dugout and, umâ¦distracted me.â
âOooo.â Moâs smiling now. âGood distracting?â
âOh my God, great distracting.â I shiver at the memory.
Mo tilts her head toward me. âMore than kissing?â She stops and holds up a hand. âWait, no. Donât tell me if you arenât ready.â
The giggle just comes out. âOh, Iâm ready. And it was definitely more than kissing.â
Mo grins. âOver the clothes?â
âUnder,â I admit in a whisper.
âNiiice.â She lowers her voice. âHow hard did you come?â
My face is burning up, and so is my body from the memories. âHard.â
Mo sits up and claps her hands delightedly. âCongratulations! I meanââ She stops. âThat was your first time, right?â
I give her a look. âI mean, kind of.â I shrug. âIâm still a virgin.â
Mo raises an eyebrow. âNot after that, you arenât.â
My face heats again. âHow do you define âvirginâ when itâs two women anyway? Itâs soâ¦â
âHeteronormative,â Mo finishes. âAmong other things. Who cares either way? Was what you did sexual? Yes. Did you enjoy it? Yes. Thatâs all that matters.â
âBut I donât know what Iâm doing!â I burst out, because I really donât and my inexperience keeps triggering my anxiety in the worst ways. âI donât want to be fumbling around trying to figure things out.â
I expect Mo to laugh at me, but she doesnât. âWe all have to start somewhere,â she says. âRemember, we donât actually know what kind of experience Eve has or doesnât have. I know people joke about her love of fast and hard hookups, but thatâs all hearsay. And you donât need to worry about that anyway, because whatever you do now is between you and her. If you like it, keep doing it. If you donât, stop. Simple as that.â
âUgh.â I drop my head into my hands. âHalf of me wants to just cancel and stay in my dorm room for the rest of my life.â
Mo does laugh then. âAnd the other half?â
I lift my head to meet her gaze.
